Barbara Buczek (1940-93)

The music by Barbara Buczek, a real outsider on the conservative-dominated Cracow music scene, fascinates with intensity of expression and complexity of musical thought. During her lifetime and after her death many of the works by Barbara Buczek remained unperformed, partly because they were regarded by musicians as too difficult. The project of „Harmonies and Noises” Music Foundation and the Faculty of Composition at the Academy of Music in Cracow aims at restoring her work, which from the present day perspective appears as one of most interesting phenomena in Polish music after Ii WW.
