IRAN – Tradition and Avantgarde, Warsaw, May 26, 2023
26.05.2023
Openness to the world and awareness of tradition - these features can be found in the program of the joint performance of leading Polish performers of contemporary music and musicians from Iran. After the Islamic Revolution, many Iranian composers began to work outside the country. Among them, an important figure is Anahita Abbasi, who lives in San Diego and was one of the founders of the Iranian Female Composers Association (IFCA) in 2017. Martyna Kosecka, a Polish composer who lived in Tehran for many years, works closely with the Association and, together with Idin Samimi Mofakham, initiated the first international festival of contemporary music in the Middle East. In the program of the concert we will hear pieces referring to the Persian musical culture. We will come closest to tradition by listening to the improvisation by Farnaz Modarresifar - a virtuoso of santur living in Paris, who also invited Polish musicians to perform in her piece. Performers: Farnaz Modarresifar - santur Ewa Liebchen – flute Anna Kwiatkowska - violin Paweł Czarny - viola Mikołaj Pałosz – cello Magdalena Kordylasińska-Pękala – drums Martyna Kosecka – electronics This Concert is part of a project financed by the Norwegian Funds and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and is co-financed by Norsk Kulturfond
